AIBDC Spring Retreat
June 21, 2014
This Spring, the Alberta IBD Consortium held a retreat in Canmore, Alberta.
Attended by Consortium members and trainees, Dr. Hans Barkema opened with a brief history of AIBDC and highlighted the accomplishments and progress since 2009. For the next two days, members presented updates on:
*current priorities in IBD research
*the role of biobanking in health research and identification of new opportunities for the AIBDC biobank
*update on the collection of AIBDC‘s biobank and database
*new research funding opportunities and collaborations
Trainees also attending the retreat participated in a discussion series and presented their contributions to AIBDC members.
In light of the productivity and success of AIBDC, members are looking forward to continuing and pursuing multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research on IBD.
