Congratulations to Elizabeth Trusevych on her AI-HS Studentship Award!

Elizabeth Trusevych was successful in her application to the Alberta Innovates – Health Solutions Studentship Award, Fall 2011 competition. Elizabeth will receive $120,000 over 4 years in PhD stipend support.

Elizabeth is researching the epithelial tight junction and permeability differences in mice that lack the main gastrointestinal mucin gene (MUC2). She works under the supervision of Dr. Kris Chadee.

Dr. Gil Kaplan and the researchers of the Alberta Inflammatory Bowel Disease Consortium are bringing the incidence and prevalence of IBD to national attention.

Published in the January 2012 issue of Gastroenterology, “Increasing Incidence and Prevalence of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases With Time, Based on Systematic Review”, is gaining attention with media coverage from the Calgary Herald to the Toronto Star.
